Design Elements

From concept to completion I craft each piece of jewelry with care and attention to detail using the finest and most interesting materials.

Silver Jewelry
My silver jewelry is made from .999 fine silver. It comes in clay form which I shape, texture, refine and then fire in a kiln. After firing I use extensive finishing techniques to produce a wide range of appearances from highly reflective to antique. Each design begins with a body of fine silver and is carefully crafted from start to finish. Gemstones, clay, wood, glass, leather and other interesting materials are frequent additions.

Fine silver Beads
The intricate silver beads used in certain designs are fine silver. I individually apply 5-7 layers of fine silver over a lightweight ceramic form. The bead is then kiln fired, cooled, decorated with silver appliques, fired again, then finished with an antique patina to hightlight the unique appliques. An amazing process with amazing results!

Stained Glass Jewelry
The stained glass jewelry is formed using traditional stained glass processes. I apply foil to each piece of glass then use lead free solder to create a bezel that prepares the piece for use in a design. I often add unusual beads, river rock, mosaic pieces, and found objects to complete the design.

Knitted Wire
My grandmother taught me to knit when I was nine years old and I think she would be very excited to see what is possible with knitting today! I knit each bracelet or choker by hand using tarnish resistant wire in silver or copper. Swarovski crystals, Czech glass, freshwater pearls and other tempting materials are individually knitted into the design.
